Final Cut at HASLIWOOD

August 31, 2007

With a lot of hard work, Macintosh power, extra efforts and night shifts, the finishing touches are being put to the dedicated movie "Hunt & Gather" these days. In the TimeLineFilm studios at Meiringen producer Davide Tiraboschi and editor Patrick Julier are doing the final cuts of last winter's amazing footage. We would like to thank Reto Neiger and Toby "the voice" McGarry for their efforts to make the movie worth watching, if only for the commentary. All the dedicated crew can't wait to see the full movie on September 8, and hopefully neither can you...

Greenfield Festival, Interlaken

June 15-17, 2007

A reduced dedicated crew, consisting of Roman Marti, Nils Lauper, Davide Tiraboschi, Infi, Photodude Birri and the "Xoidis of death", made its way to the greenfield festival in Interlaken to enjoy warm weather, cold beer and some good music. To make sure nobody runs dry, Roman's friends had brought hundreds of litres of beer on tap. Always fresh and cold... Later, there were also Pi Imhof and Reto Kestenholz seen on the spot. By the way: It definitely wasn't us who set those cars on fire!

"The cube" at Sölden

April 24 -27, 2007

At Sölden, Austria, photographer Lozza had implemented his personal, very special and unique idea of a snowboard shooting: After three days of shaping, "the cube" was finally ready for a short but intense night session. Each of the invited riders Nicolas Müller, Markus Keller and Gian Simmen could stick three tricks that were shot by Lozza and filmed by Davide Tiraboschi. Be sure to see some impressive and covershot-suspected footage from this spot.

"Closing the wall" at Engstligenalp

April 20 & 21, 2007

Reto Kestenholz and his crew of shapers had done a great job buidling the legendary Engstligenalp quarter pipe: despite miserable snow conditions a smooth and big quarter pipe transition, a funny spine and a step-up kicker were perfectly shaped every morning. The dedicated crew wanted to get some final spring shots for the movie, and filmer Davide Tiraboschi could shoot some quarterpipe footage of riders Reto Kestenholz, Raymond Brechbühl, Roman Marti and Pi Imhof as well as some funny spring slope rides with Roman and Pi. On Saturday, after a highest-air contest which was won by Reto Kestenholz with his massve 7-meters air, there was a great sunset session on the quarter, where everybody threw out nice airs into the darkening sky. Mostly Roman, who could even set his frontside inverted spins to the 5-meter level. But besides riding, jumping and shooting, there was enough time for the dedicated crew to just enjoy the warm spring sun, the cold beer and the "closing dogs"...

"Thank you" to the KWO

April 16, 2007

The dedicated crew would like to say "thank you" to the Kraftwerke Oberhasli KWO. Without their kind cooperation, shooting and staying at the Grimsel pass wouldn't have been possible. Our special thanks goes to Roland Künzler who guided us and looked after us all week long. Learn more about the KWO on their website www.grimselwelt.ch

The last days at the Grimsel pass

April 12 & 13, 2007

After a guided tour through the KWO power plant caves and two cloudy and windy afternoons, the dedicated crew decided to leave the Grimselpass already on Friday evening. Some guys had alreaady left the night before, not without shooting the Lake Grimsel handplant spot once more, and on Friday morning, Reto Neiger and Roman Marti rode a "snake line", a high speed banked run between snowbound houses and garages. With these two shootings, the "Grimsel mission" was definitely completed: Over 30 tapes of video footage and dozens of photos were shot during the last week. Carrying all their stuff back down, the crew, tired but happy, arrived just in time to enjoy the last winter season evening in the dedicated shop and hit the night-life in Meiringen.

handplant day

April 11th 2007

today the film and photo crew got up early (4.30 am) to take the cable car to Oberaar and shoot some fine sunrise timelapse footage. When they got back to the Hospiz homebase, the riders were just getting out of bed and having their breakfasts. Then a few small but good quarterpipes were prepared: At the Hospiz Hotel, Reto Neiger did an excellent handplant on the hotel roof, strapped into his board in his hiking boots and some bermuda shorts. Photodude Birri shot this trick as a massive COVERSHOT!
Then some more quarterpipes on a heli base and near the frozen lake Grimsel were shot, where everybody brought out their finest handplants. Markus Keller could even land a big drop off the Seeuferegg dam, and Reto Neiger had pulled a special line on the Oberaar dam in the morning.

Grimsel, day 3

April 10th 2007

The sun was waking us up. After a good and healthy breakfast the whole crew started to give the final shape to the jib box. Since we are a lot of dudes it worked out super quick. Keller did it first. So we all knew that the speed is working out well. Neiger in this time did a rock ride. In the meantime everybody tried tricks up to the box and then down to the landing. After that you had a little fun park were you cold choose different lines with jumps and quarters hits. And then came the best part: Another run with natural hits down to the gondola, which was running exclusively for us! Pretty cool, when you are down, get in and up it goes!
After the box session there was a session on the wall were Kestenholz did a sick front one into the wall and Keller a nice and clean BS 180.
In the nice evening light we all did a little freeride session. The ride up was in a super sketchy 50 year old gondola: There was only space for 4 people inside and we had to strap the boards on the outside of the gondola.
The run was super fun in the slush snow and we went straight on to another spot to shape a quarter pipe for tomorrow.

Grimsel, day 2

April 9th 2007

Early morning action for Reto Kestenholz today: After checking out the spot yesterday, he dropped the Oberaar dam all the way down today in the first morning light: one massive concrete drop! Later the guys went back near their homebase at Grimsel-Hospiz to prepare a perfect snowpark with several kickers, a quarterpipe, a step-up snowbox and more, while the other part of the crew with Sebi, Nils, Pi and Alex was checking out some spots on top of the Grimselpass. In the afternoon, the dedicated crew was completed by riders Gian Simmen, Roman Marti, Diego Koch, Reto Neiger, guest riders Beckna and Markus Keller as well as filmer Christoph Fritschi and photographer Lozza.

Heavy plane crash at Grimselpass - nobody injured!

April 8th 2007

The dedicated crew finally set off into their private mountain area at the Grimselpass: Yesterday, filmer Davide Tiraboschi and dedicated riders Reto Kestenholz, Pi Imhof and Nils Lauper were the first to check into the flat where the dedicated crew is going to stay for one whole week. Followed the next day by Photodude Birri, Filmer Alex Rufibach, rider Sebi Rohrer and camera carrier plane pilot Patrick Julier, who unfortunately had to watch his "baby" crash into the Oberaar dam only after a two-minute test flight... But nevermind, the dedicated crew won't give up and keeps on shovelling, shaping, dropping, jumping and hiking to use all the possibilities the exciting terrain at the Grimselpass provides, easily accessible by the various KWO cable cars.

Quarterpipe spring session at Meiringen-Hasliberg

April 1st & 2nd 2007

A long list of riders, filmers and photographers was accomodated in the mountain hut next to the quarterpipe for three days: Dedicated riders Gian Simmen, Reto Kestenholz, Roman Marti, Diego Koch, Nils Lauper, Lukas Blaser, Pi Imhof, Sebi Rohrer and Raymond Brechbühl, guest riders Markus Keller, Christoph Weber, Christophe Schmidt, Marco Smolla, filmers Davide Tiraboschi and Christoph Fritschi and photographers Lozza, Creager and Birri.
After a relaxing barbeque afternoon, a big sunset session was shot on Sunday, and a second session was done on monday. Various terrific tricks were showed and the riding level was very high: Markus pulled a backside 900, Reto threw out switch mctwists, Christophe showed high and stylish frontside alley oops, Gian and Pi brought out their old-style method airs and Christoph even landed a (high!) one-footed backside air. So after two days of hard riding, cozy evenings of card games, Sebi-style fondue and schnaps, everyone was tired but happy with the excellent footage of this spring session.

Building the quarterpipe at Meiringen-Hasliberg

March 31th 2007

With the great support of the Meiringen Hasliberg Bahnen, after only one day of shaping and shoveling the big Gummenalp quarterpipe was already finished. Fritz Heimann had done another great shaping job with his Pisten Bully, and some dedicated riders, filmers, photographers as well as other locals had given the obstacle its final shape. When it was built for the first time one year ago, this quarterpipe had already made its way to several magazine covers and advertisements, and therefore everyone coulnd’t wait to hit the famous spot the day after.

Kickers and slams at Grindelwald-First

March 28th 2007

Two dedicated film and photo crews infested the Grindelwald-First backcountry today and hit countless backcountry kickers. In the first crew with Diego Koch, Roman Marti, Sebi Rohrer, guest rider Markus Keller and filmer Christoph Fritschi, Roman and Diego unluckily got a little dazed after a hard slam session.
In the other crew, filmer Davide Tiraboschi and Photodude Birri brought some fine photo and film footage from their „oldie’s kicker session“ with dedicated riders Raymond Brechbühl, Reto Kestenholz, Pi Imhof and Nils Lauper.

corner jump to jacuzzi

March 27th 2007

While guest riders Christoph Weber and Christophe Schmidt were hitting a nice gap jump with a lot of airtime filmed by Simon Graber, the dedicated crew which was shrunken to filmer Davide Tiraboschi and riders Diego Koch and Nils Lauper hit a corner jump right next to them. In the evening Davide, Diego and Nils relaxed their tired bones in Nils’s outdoor jacuzzi...

BBQ time at Meriringen-Hasliberg

March 26th 2007

Yesterday’s work payed off today: After filming some powder runs and two natural jumps in the Glogghüs area, the dedicated crew could hit the prepared kickers straight away. Gian Simmen, Raymond Brechbühl, Roman Marti, Reto Kestenholz and Nils Lauper together with guest Markus Keller, filmers Davide Tiraboschi and Christoph Fritschi as well as Photodude Birri got some good kicker shots. Most of the crew left the mountain shortly after, but Davide, Roman, Markus and Birri enjoyed a summertime sunset barbeque session at Mägisalp.

Preparation day at Meriringen-Hasliberg

March 25th 2007

Three filming and photo crews scoured the Hasliberg mountain for kicker and freeride spots today: Dedicated riders Gian Simmen, Nils Lauper and Reto Neiger together with filmer Davide Tiraboschi prepared several backcountry kickers. The second crew with dedicated riders Raymond Brechbühl, Diego Koch, Sebi Rohrer and filmer Alex Rufibach first hit some natural backcountry jumps and then tried to build a not too big but promising kicker on a little hill. In the morning dedicated riders Reto Kestenholz and Roman Marti with guest riders Markus Keller and Christoph Weber filmed some good freeride lines with filmer Christoph Fritschi. In the afternoon, when some clouds had gathered above making it impossible to film anything, some guys had already left, and some prepared a corner jump. These hard working diggers were later rewarded with a nice cheese fondue at Nils Lauper’s house.

Another beautiful day at Grindelwald-First

March 16th 2007

Today, a big crew consisting of filmer Davide Tiraboschi, photographer Birri, dedicated riders Reto Neiger, Emanuel Schneiter, Sebi Rohrer, Raymond Brechbühl, Reto Kestenholz and Pascal Imhof made there way up to the backcountry in Grindelwald-First. Smart enough to learn from yesterday's mistake of being too late, they made an early call today. Reto Kestenholz started the session on the kicker with a cab 900, followed by some solid tricks from our lumberjack Sebi Rohrer. Raymond Brechbühl, Emanuel Schneiter and Pascal Imhof also showed a good show on the challenging kicker. Reto Neiger took a break of riding and handled the radio contacts between the riders and the film/photo crew. After hitting the kicker for several times, the crew went on to find some other sweet spots in the neighbourhood. This place has definitely some potential and check out a hot pic of today right here:
